Joint Farming
- The Government of Maharashtra amended the Maharashtra Agricultural Land (Ceiling on Holdings) Act, 1961, and placed 85,564 acres of land under the possession of the Maharashtra State Farming Corporation. Ltd. Out of this, 41,949 acres were allocated to tenant farmers and 3,388 acres were acquired for other purposes, leaving a balance of 41,099 acres under the Maharashtra State Farming Corporation's possession. It was decided in the Board of Directors’ meeting held on 18/01/2012 to include the joint farming system on this remaining land and carry out agricultural activities accordingly. Following this decision, the remaining land in various districts of Maharashtra is being given for cultivation under the joint farming scheme through e-tender process for a period of 10 years.
- Accordingly, in the Board of Directors’ meeting held on 29/01/2014, it was decided to allot the remaining land in 12 units—Harigaon, Ratnapuri, Rawalgaon, Shivpuri, Shripur, Sadashivnagar, Kolhapur, Changdevnagar, Sakharwadi (A), Sakharwadi (Sa), Laxmiwadi, and Tilaknagar—under the joint farming scheme. The Board of Directors approved that this land should be leased for cultivation under the joint farming scheme through e-tender process for a period of 10 years. In line with this decision, the land in all these units has been offered for joint farming through e-tender process.
- In the 331st Board of Directors’ meeting held on 06/06/2016, approval was granted to cultivate crops under the joint farming system on the remaining land in 14 units—Harigaon, Tilaknagar, Changdevnagar, Sakharwadi (A), Laxmiwadi, Belwandi, Rawalgaon, Shivpuri, Ratnapuri, Shripur, Sakharwadi (Sa), Kolhapur, Gangapur, and Sadashivnagar—through the e-tender process for a period of 10 years.
Benefits of Joint Farming
- Since 2008, the Corporation's land We have not under cultivaction, Due to the joint farming scheme, these lands came under cultivation, which increased their fertility.
- The Maharashtra State Farming Corporation. Ltd do not have to incur any expenses while carrying out joint farming.
- Since cash crops are now being cultivated on the available land, agricultural produce has become available to the general public, and people in the surrounding areas of the farms have started getting employment.
- The Maharashtra State Farming Corporation. Ltd. has gained a source of regular income.
- Joint farming cultivators are giving preference to modern farming methods.

As per the government decision dated 24/07/2024, the land under the Farming Corporation is being leased for non-agricultural purposes for a period of 30 years through e-tender process.

Salient Features of Joint Farming scheme
- After determining the market value by the Committee, the land is given through e-tendering to the bidder offering the highest price for a period of 10 years.
- The ownership of the land remains with the Maharashtra State Farming Corporation.
- The joint cultivator can construct wells/irrigation wells, lay pipelines, prepare farm ponds, and other such facilities with the permission of the Maharashtra State Farming Corporation at their own cost.
- On these lands, crops can be cultivated by the joint farming cultivator in accordance with the terms and conditions specified in the agreement.
